Media Magic - Class Synopses
Intro to Final Cut Pro 6.0
This 4-week intro course to FCP is designed for the absolute beginner. The course covers basic Mac OS operation, capturing, importing, basic editing techniques, adding filters and final exports. Course materials will include footage from Hart of the Annex shown on Rogers Television.

Advanced Final Cut Pro 6.0
This 8-week advanced FCP class is designed to pick up after the Intro class and develop the skills of each student to a professional level. The course includes: batch capture, P2 workflow, multi cam editing, advanced editing techniques, audio mixing and advanced format conversion exports. Course materials provided will include an editing assignment from Hart of the Annex and from The Film Student both shown on Rogers Television.

Intro Crash Course in Final Cut Pro
Learn how to edit your own videos using Final Cut Pro 6.0 in this intensive 2-day course. Topics include: Capturing media, trimming, organizing footage, basic editing techniques, applying video effects, transitions and final output to DVD or web. Basic knowledge of Mac computers is recommended.

Advanced Crash Course in Final Cut Pro
Learn how improve your skills in editing to a more advanced level in this Final Cut Pro intensive 2-day course. Topics include: Capturing tape & P2 card, trimming, roll edits, organizing footage, advanced editing techniques, color correction, multi-cam editing and final output to DVD or web. Photoshop
Learn how to edit your own digital photos with Photoshop CS3. Photoshop is the industry standard for photo editing and a pre-requisite for Final Cut and After Effects compositing. The course includes opening files, creating a canvas, masking, cloning areas and using color & tool palettes, and final export.

Intro After Effects
After Effects is a standard for video special effects and compositing program. The course includes using frame-by-frame animation, animating image masks, adding filters and motion to your clips.

After Effects II
After Effects II continues by examining 3D video simulators & lights, advanced masking, motion tracking, expressions, and animating with null objects. Course will be taught with practical exercises and pre-matted elements.

Advanced Photoshop
The advanced course applies more of the practical skills learned in the intro class. Further skills are: Automate function, importing video layers into Photoshop, using adjustment layers, burning & dodging. The class will focus more on exercises and assignments given in class to apply multiple techniques in Photoshop.

Cinema 4D R10
This weekend intensive class is designed to take your graphic and 3D designs to the absolute top by creating 3D rendered objects in a CGI environment. Cinema 4D has been used by a number of feature films and commercials through the use of matte painting, cell shaders and 3D modeling engine. Course includes: creating model primitives, animating objects, creating unique textures and using virtual cameras in a 3D environment. Cinema 4D is an excellent companion to After Effects and FCP because of it easy export into projects.

Flash CS3
This course is designed for the web and 2D animator. Flash CS3 is an extremely powerful graphics program that allows you to create interactive animated content for the web or linear 2D animated sequence. This course is a must for web-based or any multi-media project in any budget.

Adobe Premiere CS3

Color
In this intensive workshop, you will learn how to use Apple’s powerful color correcting program. The skills focused on will be how to import a sequence from FCP, workflow for primary and secondary color correction, final outputting and applying pan and scan effects to final product. Course materials include footage to color correct.

Soundtrack Pro
Soundtrack Pro is the professional sound editing program included in the Final Cut Studio 2 package. In this course, you will learn how to export an OMF, edit waveforms, correct hum & hiss, add audio filters, basic sound techniques and final export to FCP. Course materials include: practice in sound design, adding sound effects, ADR and mixing final soundtrack.

DVD Studio Pro
Learn to make high end DVD in this professional quality DVD authoring program. This course covers importing assets, menu creation, region code manipulation, designing unique DVD templates and burning the final DVD. Course materials include designing a DVD with video material provided.
Experience in Photoshop is highly recommended but not required for the class.
